Tips re jeepneys, taxis, grocery stores, department stores, restaurants

Jeepneys:
Before riding in a jeepney, write down the license plate number of said vehicle. Inside the jeepney, sit in a location where you won't be "sandwiched" between two persons. Remember the facial features of the other passengers. The modus operandi of the "laglag barya" gang is dropping coins inside jeepneys or buses. Then, when a passenger is distracted, a member of said gang makes "dukot" a possesion of said passenger. When you pay your fare inside a jeepney, state in a voice loud enough for other passengers to hear, the amount of your payment. Beware of a person carrying a large envelope, folder, magazine, etc. He may use said object to hide his hand while he tries to "make dukot" your possesion. Be aware always of everything that is going on inside jeepneys, buses. Inform in advance the driver of said vehicle where you want to get off. Wait until the vehicle has come to a complete stop before you get off. Before you get off, tell the driver: "sandali lang".

Taxis: Before you get on a taxi, write down the license plate number of said taxi. Especially for women, at night, use your cellphone to inform another person about the license plate number of said vehicle. Before you get into a taxi, tell the driver where you want to go. Ask him if he knows the route to said destination. Before you get into any taxi, determine: whether there are door locks on both sides of the passenger compartment of said vehicles. The door locks, of a taxi I rode, in were controlled by the driver. So I would have had difficulty in getting out of said taxi. Fortunately, I carry a device which can be used to shatter windows of a vehicle.Determine, in advance, if there are window lowering devices on both sides of said passenger compartment. If there are no window lowering devices on both sides of said compartment or if said devices are non functioning, it would be difficult for the voice of a passenger calling for help to be heard. Also, it would be difficult for a passenger to lower said windows if the air conditioner of said vehicle is non functioning or weak. As soon as you get into any taxi, note down the facial features of the driver. Determine whether the seal of the taxi meter is intact. Determine that the amount indicated in said meter is correct. If the driver does not know the route to your destination but you do, inform the driver as to the route you want him to take to your destination. Watch to make certain that he follows said desired route. If he does not follow said route, consider whether you should get off said taxi. I believe that after you have told the driver your desired destination and he has accepted to take you to said destination, there is a verbal contract between you and said driver. If, for any valid reason, that he fails to bring youto said destination, you have no obligation to pay the fare.

Grocery stores, department stores:
If you leave your belongings in the package counter of said establishment, make certain you are given a claim tag bearing the name of the store and a number. If there is more than one store bearing the same name, make certain that said claim tag bears the location of said particular store. For example, there are several grocery stores bearing the name: "SM Supermarket".If you leave more than one item in said package counter, it is better for you, if you have the employee at said counter give you a piece of paper bearing: (1) the name and address of said store; (2) the name and signature of said employee; (3) sufficient description of said item. If any of items is expensive, for example, an expensive piece of luggage, then said paper should bearing the brand of said luggage. In groceries, make certain that the name and address of the importer/distributor of said product is clearly indicated on said product. At the checkout counter of the grocery store, make certain that the prices and quantities of any product is correctly inputted by the employee. When you claim said objects from said counter, before giving said employee said claim tag, make certain that said employee gives you all said belongings and that all said belongings are in good order and conditions. If you buy anything from said stores, make certain that said receipt is legible enough to be photocopied. If you buy anything from a department store, make certain that the receipt for said product bears, among others, sufficient description of said product.

Fast food stores, restaurants:
There was a restaurant at what is called the Global City which had a sign inside which contained words to the effect that the management is not responsible for anything that happens to customersinside said establishment. Some restaurants did not have visible sanitation permits for the current year/did not show to the undersigned, after being requested to do so, sanitation permits for the current year.At a fast food store, I saw an employee at said store wiping several food trays with one cloth. Several restaurants have issued receipts wherein the VAT charge was separate from the price of the food. One restaurant, which occupied a whole building, had a fire exit, on the second floor, which was locked from the inside.
